Pallet FAQs | Pallet Recycling Guys
Common questions about buying, selling, and recycling pallets in Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley.
What is the standard pallet size in Canada?
The most common pallet size in Canada is 48×40 inches (often written 40×48), also known as the GMA pallet. This is the North American standard used by most grocery, retail, and manufacturing operations. We stock thousands of these at our Surrey yard.
What is a GMA pallet?
GMA stands for Grocery Manufacturers Association. A GMA pallet is a 48×40 inch wooden stringer pallet — the most widely used pallet in North America. It is designed to fit standard racking, forklifts, and pallet jacks. Used GMA pallets start at $5 at our Surrey yard.
What is the difference between used and new pallets?
Used pallets have been in service before and may show wear, staining, or minor repairs. They are graded by condition — Grade A (near-new), Grade B (serviceable), and Grade C (repair-grade). New pallets are manufactured to consistent dimensions with no prior wear. Used pallets from $5 are ideal for storage and internal use; new pallets are better for export, food contact, or applications requiring consistent dimensions.
What is a heat-treated (ISPM-15) pallet?
ISPM-15 is an international phytosanitary standard that requires wooden pallets used in international trade to be heat-treated to kill insects and pathogens. Heat-treated pallets are stamped with the IPPC mark and the letters HT. They are required for exports to most countries, including the USA, EU, Australia, and China. We stock ISPM-15 certified heat-treated pallets — call 604-761-5661 for pricing.
What is the minimum quantity for pallet pickup?
There is no minimum order for buying pallets at our Surrey yard. For free pallet collection (we pick up your surplus pallets), the minimum is 100 standard 40×48 pallets. For smaller loads, paid pickup starts at $350.
Do you deliver pallets?
Yes. We deliver pallets throughout Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley, including Surrey, Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Delta, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Langley, Abbotsford, and Chilliwack. Call 604-761-5661 for delivery pricing.
What are your hours?
We are open Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We are closed on Sundays. Our yard is at 12255 Industrial Road, Surrey, BC.
Do you sell plastic pallets?
Yes. We stock plastic pallets from $10. Plastic pallets are popular in food processing, pharmaceuticals, and export shipping because they are hygienic, lightweight, and durable. Call 604-761-5661 for current stock and pricing.
Do you sell crates?
No. We specialize in pallets only — wooden and plastic, used and new. We do not sell crates.
Can I get custom-sized pallets?
